Zarrar is a Senior Associate in AMJ’s Banking and Islamic Finance team, specialising in financing, corporate, and commercial transactions. He has extensive experience advising financial institutions, corporates, and project sponsors on high-value financial and commercial deals across Oman.

Zarrar’s practice focuses on banking and finance deals, including syndicated finance and project finance, with a particular emphasis on Islamic finance models. He is recognized for delivering practical, business-focused advice on complex financial transactions and structures.

In addition, Zarrar is the firm’s lead counsel for aviation leasing and finance matters, advising lessors and financiers on aircraft leasing, aviation finance structures, security arrangements and related regulatory compliance.

  • Advising Societe Generale and other lenders and insurers on the leasing of two Boeing 737 and one Boeing 787 aircraft to Oman Air SAOC.
  • Advising SMBC Aviation Capital Limited on the leasing of two Airbus A321 aircraft to Salam Air S.A.O.C.
Banking and Islamic finance
  • Advising Ahli Bank SAOG and a syndicate of conventional and Islamic banks on the USD 119,000,000 term and working capital facilities to Sohar Titanium (FZC) LLC’s in connection with its greenfield titanium slag and pig iron plant in the Sohar Free Zone.
  • Advising Advario Terminals LLC on USD 115,000,000 syndicated term facilities for refinancing a liquid bulk terminal at the Sohar Port.
  • Advising Ahli Islamic, Ahli Bank SAOG on Ijara financing to Izdihar Real Estate Fund for refinancing the acquisition of Lulu Hypermarket, Buraimi and Oasis Mall, Muscat.
  • Advising Bank Muscat and a syndicate of conventional and Islamic banks on OMR 37 million term facilities to Towell Infrastructure Projects Company for the development of a water distribution project in Mudhaibi, Oman.
Corporate
  • Advising HSBC Oman SAOG in its merger with Sohar International Bank SAOG.
  • Advising HSBC Bank Middle East and Gulf International Bank in connection with setting up their branches in Oman.
Shipping
  • Advising Bank Nizwa SAOG on musharakah based financing provided to the Sindbad Group for the acquisition and subsequent bare boat charter of 4 bulk carrier vessels and 1 fishing vessel.
  • Advising Sohar International Bank SAOG on financing the acquisition and subsequent bare boat charter of 3 bulk carrier vessels.
