Mining

The development of the mining and quarrying sector is a central pillar of the Sultanate’s economic diversification strategy under Oman’s current Tenth Five-Year Plan (2021–2025).

With resurgent global demand for Oman’s largely untapped mineral reserves — including copper, chromite, gypsum, limestone and marble — mining activity is expected to accelerate significantly in the coming years.

AMJ’s lawyers have extensive experience across the full mining value chain, from early-stage exploration through to large-scale extraction, downstream processing, and value-added industrial activities.

Our multidisciplinary team is unique in Oman, combining the expertise of lawyers who have advised on mining and metals projects worldwide in both private practice and in-house roles. This international experience is complemented by our in-depth knowledge of Oman’s regulatory framework, sectoral architecture and the industrial ecosystems within the Sultanate’s free zones and transport hubs.

We act for a number of local and international mining companies operating in Oman, as well as for financial institutions supporting mining investments. Clients value our deep insight into the sector and our ability to anticipate and resolve the legal and regulatory challenges that arise in this evolving area of law.

AMJ’s mining practice offers clients a comprehensive service that spans licensing, regulatory approvals, project development, land access, joint ventures, financing, off-take arrangements, environmental compliance, infrastructure issues, and dispute resolution.

Our long-standing presence in the market and close familiarity with Oman’s mining laws allow us to provide practical, commercially grounded solutions that support successful project delivery.
