Yousuf Nasim is a senior associate in the Projects Team advising a range of foreign and domestic clients on transactions and investments in Oman. He has extensive experience in a variety of sectors including banking and finance, TMT, energy, water, and ports & shipping. He is recognised as a leading lawyer by Legal500 EMEA and by Legal500 Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining AMJ, Yousuf was a Partner at a leading law-firm in Pakistan.

Experience

Banking and Finance
  • Advising Vulcan Green Steel, a member of the Jindal Group in the US$950m syndicated financing of a 2.5 MTPA integrated steel plant in Duqm. The financing was arranged by Bank Muscat.
  • Advising ACME Group on the US$490m financing of its 2,200 tonne per day green hydrogen and green ammonia facility within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
  • Advising the borrowers and the lenders on Omani law in the US$125m refinancing of Barka 2, a 678 MW natural gas-fired power plant coupled with a 120,000 m3/day seawater desalination plant. The project was established by Engie and Mubadala Investment and the financing was arranged by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and National Bank of Oman.
  • Advising the borrower and the lenders on Omani law in the US$100m refinancing of Barka 1, a 427 MW natural gas-fired power plant coupled with a 91,200 m3/day seawater desalination plant. The project was established by ACWA Power and the financing was arranged by Bank Muscat and Ahli Bank.
  • Advising Oman Housing Bank on the drafting of a CBO-regulated tech outsourcing agreement to establish a digital vendor marketplace in connection with its housing-loan portfolio.
Corporate

Advising Nama Holding on its shareholder agreement and subscription agreement with JV Partner, State Grid Corporation of China, in connection with a USD 390m investment.


Regulatory
  • Advising Port of Duqm Company on the drafting of a sanctions policy and associated regulations.


Restructuring
  • Advised Bank Dhofar, Bank Nizwa, and Taageer Finance on the cross-border restructuring and insolvency of the NMC Group, and the settlement of their claim against the borrower in the context of a third-party buyout by Tawoos.
  • Advising Muscat Overseas Group on the internal restructuring of its group entities.
